Play, Taste, and Explore Stockbridge

Stockbridge brings together outdoor recreation, meaningful history, locally owned dining, and lively entertainment, making it easy to build a full day around a variety of interests. Start with a sweet breakfast, challenge yourself on the disc golf course, and then spend the afternoon discovering the people, places, and flavors that have shaped the community.

Stop One: Holey Sweet Donuts

Begin the day on a sweet note at Holey Sweet Donuts, where donuts and baked goods are made from scratch daily. Browse the colorful display of familiar favorites and imaginative specialty flavors before pairing your selection with a fresh cup of coffee. The hardest part may be choosing just one, but any hesitation about eating dessert for breakfast will likely disappear once you see the day’s selection.

Stop Two: J.P. Moseley Park Disc Golf Course

After breakfast, head down the road to J.P. Moseley Park for a round of disc golf. Recognized by the Professional Disc Golf Association, the free, championship-caliber course features 37 holes that challenge beginners and experienced players alike.

Bring your own discs, gather a few friends, and see who can navigate the course with the fewest throws. Even visitors who are new to the sport can enjoy the wooded surroundings, fresh air, and friendly competition.

Stop Three: Green Front Café

Once you have worked up an appetite, recharge at Green Front Café, where traditional Southern soul food is served with Jamaican-inspired flavor and a generous helping of history. The café began in the home of Carrie Mae “Mother Mae” Hambrick, who served the Stockbridge community for more than 60 years.

After her passing, Diane Miller and her family purchased the property and continued its legacy as a place where comforting food and warm hospitality bring people together. Settle in for a flavorful meal while experiencing an important piece of Stockbridge history.

Stop Four: Floyd Chapel Baptist Church

Continue exploring the city’s heritage at Floyd Chapel Baptist Church. Established during the late 19th century, the historic church is best known as the place where a young Martin Luther King Sr. delivered his first sermon.

Floyd Chapel remains an active place of worship while preserving its connection to the King family, local religious history, and the broader civil rights story. Visitors should be respectful of services and church activities while viewing the property.

Stop Five: VyStar Amphitheater at the Bridge or Frozen Smoke

Check the schedule at VyStar Amphitheater at the Bridge, one of Stockbridge’s most prominent gathering places. The open-air venue welcomes nationally touring performers, festivals, cultural celebrations, movie nights, and community events throughout the year. From BridgeFest and Juneteenth celebrations to holiday festivities and seasonal concerts, the amphitheater offers plenty of reasons to extend your visit into the evening.

When there is not an event scheduled, keep the night going at Frozen Smoke Restaurant Bar. Enjoy burgers, wings, loaded fries, desserts, and other casual favorites in a lively atmosphere that often features karaoke, music, and entertainment.

From championship disc golf and historic landmarks to soul food and outdoor concerts, Stockbridge offers a memorable mix of experiences. Whether you spend the evening singing along at the amphitheater or relaxing over dinner, the city provides plenty of ways to end a well-spent day.
