Green Front Café is considered Stockbridge’s first restaurant. Its story began in the late 1940s, when Carrie Mae “Mother Mae” Hambrick welcomed people into her home and served meals to anyone, regardless of race, during the segregation era. Her home eventually became the Green Front Café, which she operated for decades.

After the original restaurant closed, Diane D. Miller and her family purchased and reopened the historic café, preserving its spirit of hospitality and Southern cooking while introducing Jamaican influences to the menu. Today, a meal at Green Front continues a local tradition stretching back more than 75 years.
