Panola Mountain State Park offers activities for all ages and fitness levels. Visitors can picnic while children work off energy on the playground. The park offers archery, boat rental, geocaching, orienteering, birding and tree-climbing programs. A paved trail is open for biking, rollerblading, jogging, and dog-walking, while forested fitness trails are open for hiking and running. Reservations are required for ranger-led hikes and many of the specialty programs. The State Park parking fee is $5 per car and the programs are generally $15 or less.
Henry County’s most famous attraction, Atlanta Motor Speedway, offers an inexpensive hour of fun and three fast laps around the track! The $10 track tour is offered Monday-Friday and starts in the gift shop.
Starlite Family Fun Center offers a variety of family fun for $12 or less. There is roller skating, an arcade, and even an indoor playground for toddlers and children. Rates and packages vary by day and activity.
Catch a movie at the Regal McDonough Stadium 16 when it’s too hot or too wet to be outdoors. The theater offers 16 screens with stadium seating. During the summer they offer special $1 movies on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings as part of their Summer Movie Express program.
Southern Belle Farm offers months of seasonal outdoor activities starting in mid-April with “You-Pick” and pre-picked delicious strawberries. As spring moves into summer, blueberries, blackberries, and peaches are also available for you-pick along with other fresh produce. You-pick strawberries are $14.95/gallon. You-pick blueberries and blackberries are $18.95/gallon. You-pick peaches are priced at $14.95 for a half peck. Before planning a trip be sure to check hours and produce availability. During weekends in the fall, Southern Belle Farm offers a 7-acre corn maze, pig races, a jumping pillow, hayrides, corn cannon, and more.
The Pumpkin Patch at Yule Forest has you-pick pumpkins, a petting zoo, science center, a hayride and more for the younger kids for $10. For older kids and adults who like all things scary, haunted or undead, there is a Haunted House, Terror Transport and Pandemic Frontline Haunted Combat (laser tag) during Fear the Woods. Each activity is $19 for anyone 11 and over. Combo packages are available.
