Hampton: A Guide to Big Adventure in a Small Town

Hampton is a small town with big adventures. A day in Hampton will leave you with tons of photos and some serious bragging rights.

Rev Your Engine at the EchoPark Speedway (formerly Atlanta Motor Speedway)

Just 2.5 miles from downtown Hampton lies the largest entertainment facility and the only NASCAR track in the Georgia. Track tours of EchoPark Speedway are available Monday – Friday and include a tour of the facility and three laps in the Speedway van around the famous 1.54-mile track. Tours originate from the gift shop.

Check “Helicopter Ride” off your Bucket List

Next to the Speedway sits a different type of “ride of a lifetime.” The Army Aviation Heritage Foundation and Flying Museum is a non-profit organization whose mission is to keep army aviation’s history alive. They do this through static displays in their hangar, located at the Atlanta Speedway Airport, and at events as well as through their ride program and air show participation. Gather five friends and book a ride in one of the UH-1 Huey helicopters or go big with the “bucket list” ride in a AH-1 Cobra helicopter. Both ride programs require advanced booking.

Root Around for Lunch at Rutabaga’s Market & Café

Before heading a little farther afield, grab a fresh sandwich, wrap or salad at Rutabaga’s Market and Café. Don’t forget to check out their inventory of sauces, jellies, dips and dry mixes.

Find Some Sweet Treasures at Sweeties Flea Market

If you are looking for some low-key activities, do some treasure hunting at one of the downtown antique stores or at Sweeties Flea Market, Georgia’s oldest outdoor flea market.

2316 Highway 19 41
Hampton, Georgia 30228

Hampton offers a full day’s worth of adventure and authentic small town charm all within a six-mile radius. Put Hampton on your “to do” list and spend more time actually doing than driving on this trip!
