Army Heritage Foundation & Flying Museum
Situated next to the Atlanta Motor Speedway at the Atlanta Speedway Airport, the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation & Flying Museum offers free hangar tours at its Legacy Chapter in Hampton, Georgia. Through patriotic flying presentations, static displays of the actual aircraft and equipment used by those who’ve served in Army Aviation and their ride program, which features rides in either a Bell UH-1H Huey or Bell AH-1 Cobra helicopter, the AAHF presents the story of Army Aviation, connecting the American solider to the American public.
Atlanta Motor Speedway
Located in Hampton, GA, the Atlanta Motor Speedway offers year-round fun for avid motorsport fans. Situated on approximately 850 acres, the Atlanta Motor Speedway is at the center of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series world once a year. When not hosting NASCAR races, the track holds other special events, including the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama, the Georgia State Fair, the Atlanta Air Show and more. Heritage Park
Comprising 129 acres, Heritage Park is home to the Veterans Wall of Honor and Heritage Park Veterans Museum. View memorabilia from WWI to the present on a guided tour of the museum by military veterans. Just a short walk over the bridge, the Veterans Wall of Honor allows visitors to pay homage to veterans for their service and sacrifices. Heritage Park also features a paved walking/jogging track, two playgrounds, three pavilions, four softball fields, community gardens and more.
Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary
Home to more than 1,500 abused, neglected and surrendered animals, Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary is a nonprofit educational sanctuary located in Locust Grove, GA. Sitting on 250 acres, this sanctuary provides a beautiful, park-like setting families can enjoy as they embark on a free self-guided tour or paid behind-the-scenes guided tour. Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary was also home to the famous Bear, Lion and Tiger (BLT) trio, who lived together since they were cubs. Although Leo the lion passed away in August 2016, you can still visit Shere Khan the Tiger and Baloo the Black Bear.
Panola Mountain State Park
Located off Highway 155 SW in Stockbridge, Panola Mountain State Park offers exciting adventures for all ages. The paved trail is great for biking, rollerblading, jogging and dog-walking, while the forested fitness trail presents hiking and running opportunities. The park provides archery, geocaching, orienteering and birding programs, as well as boat rentals. Southern Belle Farm
A 330-acre working farm in McDonough, Southern Belle Farm offers homegrown fun for the whole family. In spring and summer, enjoy U-pick strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and peaches. Fresh produce, pumpkins and a range of fall activities, including a corn maze, campfires, pig races and other attractions, bring the autumn season to life.
