If the pollen descending is any indication, Spring has officially arrived in Henry County, GA! While there are an abundant amount of ways to welcome the warmer weather, a local favorite is venturing to our agritourism farms offering U-Pick tulips, strawberries, and more.
Where Are The U-Pick Farms?
There are several farms in Henry County that offer U-Pick opportunities, the most notable places being the Yule Forest and Southern Belle Farm. Each offers outdoor, Spring-filled adventures to indulge in the new season.
About Yule Forest’s Tulip Festival
In 1983, Allen and Susie Grant opened the Yule Forest gates as a Christmas Tree Farm. Located off Highway 155 in Stockbridge, the Yule Forest has greeted thousands of locals and travelers alike over the years. While their Christmas Tree Farm still comes during winter, the farm grew in 2022 to include the introduction of the arrival of Spring when the Grant’s daughter, Aarah, created the Tulip Festival.
The Tulip Festival consists of approximately 200,000 vibrant and fragrant planted tulips. While the Tulip Festival is composed of tulip fields, local food and artisan vendors, family-friendly activities, farm animals, and so much more, this festival also offers the ability to purchase a U-Pick cup for tulips from a designated field.
About Southern Belle Farm’s Strawberry Patch
Southern Belle Farm has remained within the Carter family for generations, each continuing its legacy of allowing others to have a taste of the good life on the farm and receive education about agriculture and its importance to our health and well-being in a wholesome and safe environment.
Residing in McDonough, the farm offers different produce and events each season with strawberries being the Spring pick. Locals and travelers are invited to either purchase pre-picked strawberries or purchase a bucket to roam the 15-acre patch themselves to collect as many strawberries as able to fit inside the bucket.
What Dates Are U-Pick Offered?
The Tulip Festival runs from March 8th to 30th, 2025. While the festival occurs Thursday through Sunday, the U-Pick cups are only offered on Saturday and Sunday, starting at 10AM.
Opening on April 1st, 2025, strawberry picking at Southern Belle Farm is offered Tuesday through Sunday with varying hours each day. The last time to enter during weekdays is 4PM while the last entry on weekends is 5PM.
What To Do Before You Arrive
Before venturing to either of these farms, we highly advise checking their respective websites and social media channels beforehand. Each website features a “Plan Your Visit” tab to inform you on hours, FAQs, parking information, as well as if they happen to be sold out of any item or ticket.
The popularity of these events is undeniable, and therefore, both the tulips and the strawberries possess the possibility of being sold out. It is recommended to arrive at an earlier time to prevent missing out as well as visit their social media channels for updates on the status of their U-Pick opportunities.
When You Arrive
While weekend tickets must be purchased online prior to arrival at the Tulip Festival, the U-Pick cups are only available for purchase at the event and are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each cup is designed to hold 10 tulips.
Admission to the U-Pick strawberry patch is $1.00 with season passes also being offered. Upon entering, you choose between a quart or gallon bucket to fill with strawberries. The price of the strawberries is dependent on the bucket chosen with a quart costing $6.95 and a gallon costing $17.95.
