Fun at a Distance in Henry County, Georgia

As city and county administration implement plans of action in regard to COVID-19 response and observance of social distancing guidelines put in place by the CDC, access to these businesses and locations may change. We encourage you to contact individual businesses and entities to get the most up-to-date information about operation and hours. We hope you and your loved ones remain safe.

 

As you spend more time indoors as a result of the spread of COVID-19, a break from routine may be just what you need. Here is a list of local locations that offer you the opportunity to enjoy some of Henry County’s tourism offerings while maintaining a safe distance from others.

 

Panola Mountain State Park

Panola Mountain State Park is now offering many of its year-round activities such as guided hikes, archery, tree climbing and more! Multiple walking trails can be found at the park, including the paved trail segment that is a part of the larger PATH trail system. These activities give you the ability to safely practice social distancing guidelines provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention while enjoying time outdoors.

Army Aviation Heritage Foundation

Learn a bit of history as you step outside the house and take a free tour of the Hampton, Georgia hangar that is home to aircraft including Vietnam era Huey and Cobra helicopters. Check the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation website for information about the schedule of paid helicopter rides they also offer.

Crumbles by Nicole

Owned and operated by a televised baking competition champ, the bakery is doling out delectable desserts. Call ahead to place an order and Nicole Silva will have it ready for curbside pickup.

Rum Creek at Eagles Landing

Get out on the green at this nine-hole golf and footgolf course. You’ll also find a driving range at this Stockbridge, Georgia attraction.

The Martin Luther King Sr. Trail

Stockbridge, Georgia is the birthplace of the religious and civil rights leader Martin Luther King Sr. The trail, to which his name is lent, includes Floyd Chapel Baptist Church, where MLK Sr. preached his first sermon, a little free library and Reeves Creek Trail.

Train Watching  Platform

Do you have train enthusiasts in the family? Enjoy fresh air and glimpses of trains passing through the city of Locust Grove, Georgia from the train watching platform.
