Fun and Funky Date Ideas

cute couple

Dating is hard nowadays, but coming up with creative dates can be even harder. Tired of the same old, stereotypical dinner and a movie? We’ve crafted a list of fun and funky ideas in Henry County that are sure to impress your date.

Cost Money

Feeling thrifty? Decide on a budget with your significant other—whether it’s $25, $50, or more—and head over to Peachtree Peddlers Antique and Flea Market. Surprise each other with fun, quirky finds that match the budget you agreed on!

Wanna feel like a kid again? Starlite Family Fun Center in McDonough and Stockbridge offers roller skating, laser tag, and more—and yes, they rent skates! Check their website beforehand for specials and “cheap skate” days.

Want to keep dinner and a movie—but with a twist? Instead of planning ahead, show up at Regal Stadium 16 at a random time and watch the first movie that’s playing. Then go on a “progressive dinner” adventure through one of Henry County’s charming downtowns.

Feeling artsy? Head to Painting with a Twist for their “Pop In & DIY” sessions. Reserve your spot online, pick a project, and enjoy creating something special together—materials and instructions included. Visit their website for more details.

Less Than $20

For outdoorsy couples, Panola Mountain State Park offers archery, birdwatching, guided hikes, picnics, and even tree-climbing. With a $5 parking fee and most programs priced at $15 or less, it’s an affordable adventure. Be sure to check the website for reservations and availability.

For racing fans or the curious, EchoPark Speedway (formerly Atlanta Motor Speedway) offers a $15 track tour Monday through Friday, beginning at the gift shop. Reserve your spot online for a behind-the-scenes look at this legendary venue.

Craving fresh air and farm vibes? Southern Belle Farm always has something going on. Depending on the season, you can pick strawberries, blueberries, peaches—or enjoy fall activities like corn mazes, pig races, hayrides, and pumpkin patches. Check their website or social media for seasonal updates and hours.

Free

The Bushy Tail Art Trail is a Henry County phenomenon you won’t want to miss. With whimsical squirrel tables scattered throughout the county, it makes for a perfect scavenger hunt. Grab your date and see how many you can find!

Try disc golf! What started as a pandemic hobby has grown into a full-blown sport. J.P. Moseley Disc Golf Course in Stockbridge is one of Georgia’s premier courses, offering challenges for beginners and pros alike. Pack a few discs and enjoy a friendly competition in the great outdoors.

History lovers, rejoice. The Veterans Museum at Heritage Park is located in a large red barn just across the bridge in the park. Since opening on Veterans Day in 2010 with only a handful of displays, it has grown into a powerful and educational space filled with artifacts donated or loaned by veterans and their families. Covering military history from World War I to the present, the museum offers a deeply personal and immersive experience. Admission is free, though donations are appreciated.

Foodie Favorites

Coffee, tea, or neither? Whatever your preference, Lazy Llama in Ola offers an inviting, aesthetic setting for your caffeine date. Enjoy lavish lattes, marvelous matchas, superb smoothies, and more.

Craving tacos and margaritas? Head to Blackrose Café and Bar for authentic Mexican cuisine in a cozy, beautiful setting in downtown Locust Grove.

Ice cream for dinner? Say less. Lupita’s Ice Cream is a family-owned gem offering authentic Hispanic desserts like Mangonadas, Diablitos, Chicharrones, and Tosstilocos—alongside over 20 flavors of ice cream, banana splits, sundaes, fruit bars, and more.

Can’t decide what to eat? Make dinner an experience and don’t limit yourself to one particular palate. Engage in a “Progressive Dinner” by hopping from one restaurant to the next in a splendid three-course adventure.
