That 7 AM coffee run doesn’t have to be just about caffeine. Whether you’re a casual coffee drinker or someone whose love affair with caffeine rivals the greatest romance novels, Henry County, Georgia offers coffee stories worth exploring. This isn’t just about where to grab your morning cup, but the rich histories and roasting traditions that make each coffee experience unique. From Pacific Northwest-inspired drive-throughs to monthly global coffee choices, each establishment tells a story of careful sourcing and community connection.

Stories Behind Your Favorite Brews

Drip-Thru Coffee

The story of Drip-Thru Coffee begins with a vision inspired by Atlanta’s commuter culture and the legendary coffee stands of the Pacific Northwest. Founded in 2013 by co-founder Christy Deen, whose over 20 years in the food and beverage industry spans Disney World to Atlanta’s airport, this convenient drive-through represents a fusion of Southern hospitality and West Coast coffee culture. What sets them apart is their commitment to Georgia coffee relationships, sourcing beans from a Georgia roaster who roasts to order and delivers weekly, the day after roasting. This roaster uses fair trade practices, ensures organically grown beans, and offers decaffeinated options processed with the Swiss water method using only pure water.

SDK’s Cafe

At SDK’s Cafe in McDonough, the coffee story becomes a globe-trotting adventure through their “Coffee of the Month” program, featuring different regions like Ethiopia, Peru, Haiti, and Colombia. This transforms each visit into a cultural expedition. The cafe’s philosophy of serving “with love” extends to understanding these coffee traditions, creating a space where 18 different syrup flavors and homemade flavored cold foam complement their international coffee selections. Next time you’re craving both coffee and adventure, SDK’s monthly selection awaits!

Maui Wowi

Since 2003, Maui Wowi has featured an exclusive line of Kona espresso and cappuccino drinks, along with gourmet blended coffees from Maui, Kona, Kauai, and Molokai, representing their evolution from their 1983 founding focused on healthy smoothies. Hawaiian coffee, particularly Kona, represents one of the most unique coffee stories, grown on volcanic slopes with rich soil and perfect climate conditions that create naturally smooth, less acidic characteristics.

Southern Fusion Dining

Chef Paul Lewis, who has over 25 years of culinary experience and was featured on Food Network and Atlanta Eats during his time as partner at the acclaimed Pecan Restaurant, brings attention to detail to every aspect of Southern Fusion Dining. Coffee becomes part of the complete dining experience, selected to complement his Southern fusion flavors renowned in the Atlanta area.

Holey Sweet Donuts

At Holey Sweet Donuts in Stockbridge, their French roast selection reflects enduring coffee traditions perfectly paired with artisan craftsmanship. Since opening in January 2017, this family-owned bakery has become a community staple, earning the Kid’s Choice award at the annual Taste of Henry competition. Their coffee pairs perfectly with handmade donuts crafted daily from scratch, creating the ideal balance between bold coffee flavors and sweet breakfast treats.

The Lazy Llama

The Lazy Llama is a family-owned coffeehouse and creperie in McDonough that goes beyond traditional coffee service. With locations in McDonough and Atlantic Station, they offer breakfast, sweet, and savory crepes alongside bagel sandwiches, all made fresh on-the-spot, while providing smoothies, frappes, flavored lemonades, teas, and Red Bulls. Their cozy seating areas create the perfect environment for gathering with friends.

Welcome Home Creamery & Coffee

Welcome Home Creamery & Coffee creates sweet treats from scratch in Downtown Hampton, representing the artisan approach to community coffee culture. This locally owned creamery and coffee shop combines fresh coffee with homemade ice cream, cookies, and slices of cake, creating a true neighborhood gathering spot.

Whether you’re grabbing a quick cup from a drive-through or settling in for a leisurely morning at a local cafe, remember you’re experiencing careful growing, thoughtful roasting, and passionate preparation that connects you to coffee lovers worldwide.

So go ahead, get your caffeine fix.
