Searching for things to do for Spring Break? Do you want something that will make your kids the envy of the lunch table? Henry County offers adventures that will not only make you a rock star with your kids but may just generate a few jealous Facebook friends of your own.
Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary is a home for unwanted, abused, neglected or surrendered animals. The animals range from domestic animals like horses and birds, to wildlife such as bears, foxes and wolves, to exotic animals like tigers, monkeys and lions. There is no cost to visit Noah’s Ark if you opt for the self-guided tour. If you want a little more adventure and would like to get a little up-close-and-personal, purchase a Walk on the Wild Side (WOW) Tour. This tour takes you inside the first fence to meet the famous BLT (Bear, Lion & Tiger) and hear their story as well as the stories of most of the exotics from your personal tour guide.
If a hair raising experience is what you are seeking this Spring Break, then book a helicopter ride in a Vietnam Huey helicopter at the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation (AAHF). They are a historic flying museum and the only organization in the U.S. authorized by the FAA to offer rides in the historic aircrafts. Although the AAHF offers rides at the various air shows they attend, the most affordable place to take your ride is from their home base at the Atlanta South Regional Airport in Hampton, Georgia. Visit the museum for free and be sure to ask the Veterans and volunteers for a little history lesson. The kids are sure to find the lesson more interesting sitting in the cockpit of a Cobra helicopter.
If you rather not be 5,000 feet in the air but still have need for speed, a track tour of Atlanta Motor Speedway should fit the bill. In addition to a tour of Petty Gardens, a suite, and a sneak peek at the garages and Victory Lane, the guaranteed highlight will be the three laps around the track. Have your cameras ready because you won’t believe how steep the 24 degree banks feel in a 15 passenger van.
Spring Break adventures in Henry County offer the excitement you crave within 30 minutes of Atlanta and less than 20 miles from the Atlanta Airport all at an affordable price that will make your wallet happy. The hours and age limits for each of these attractions differ so be sure to check out their websites for more information and book in advance to guarantee a spot!
