Visit Henry County, GA can say with certainty that, when it comes to the insidious nature of racism, we condemn it in every form and believe in the equal rights of all people. Our staff and board members are appalled at violence committed against members of the Black community and other minorities at the hands of individuals who act out of anger, prejudice, and hate.
We do not make this statement without also acknowledging the reality of this country’s history and the present climate. All people are welcome to visit our cities and county as a whole, to engage in the very thing we always encourage people to do: explore. We want people to travel throughout the area and visit the places we promote without hesitation.
We realize we cannot change the hearts and minds of all individuals, but we do welcome the views, ideas and voices of all people. We believe the qualities that make us different are to be recognized and celebrated.
As a community organization, we continue to discuss and identify the best methods for taking this issue of racism and social injustice beyond a simple social media statement. We want to offer opportunities for education within our organization, for our tourism partners and the community at large. Visit Henry County, GA and the Henry County Chamber of Commerce have established a Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) priority that includes community dialogues and insightful programs designed to address these issues and move our community forward…together.
