Kim Donald is a fifth-generation Henry County native and mixed-media artist whose work combines texture, storytelling, and inspiration drawn from everyday life. Creating art since high school and teaching art since 2008, Kim continues to explore new techniques and materials, viewing creativity as an ongoing learning process.

Her work is deeply inspired by her sensory-loving son, as well as themes found in faith, nature, poetry, music, prayer, and personal reflection. Through her mixed-media creations, Kim transforms reclaimed and repurposed materials into meaningful works of art that encourage connection and contemplation.

Kim’s “Small Blocks of Wisdom” series began using found wood and has since evolved into larger mixed-media pieces created from donated scraps, reclaimed flooring, and plywood. Her artistic process often begins by staining the wood before layering acrylic paint and various mediums to build texture and depth. Many of her pieces incorporate vintage papers, glass beads, rusted metal, sand, jewelry fragments, glitter, and other tactile elements that add character and dimension.

Each piece features a meaningful quote or message of wisdom, with the creative process itself serving as an important source of inspiration. As the materials evolve throughout the layering process, Kim often discovers the subject and direction of the artwork organically, making each creation unique and deeply personal.
