BIOGRAPHY:
I’m a fifth generation Henry County native. I have been creating art since high school and
teaching art since 2008.
I have dabbled in many different art forms. My current art form is mixed media. I am still developing my techniques, seeing that creating is a constant learning process.
I have many inspirations, my first is my son. He is a sensory-loving little guy and I think of him as I create each piece. My other inspirations include Creation, Bible verses, song lyrics, prayers, and poetry.
Small Blocks of Wisdom started with wood I found. Today, it is donated scraps, or purchased for a minimal price. My process includes staining the wood first, then
applying multiple layers of acrylic paint with different acrylic mediums added in.
I sometimes include vintage papers, glass beads, large glitter, jewelry parts, rusted metal, sand, etc. For me, the process is the best part. I love staining the wood and seeing what it reveals as it dries. Many times I find my subject for the piece during the process. All of my pieces include some type of wisdom in the form of a quote.
I started out making Small Blocks for shelves, mantels, or desks. In the last year I have started making much larger Big Blocks from wood flooring scraps and plywood. I enjoy creating every piece!
