For a taste of Southern home cooking in Stockbridge, pull up a chair at Sarah’s Country Cooking. This locally owned restaurant serves the kind of comforting, made-from-scratch dishes that feel like they came straight from a family kitchen. With a rotating selection of meats, vegetables, sides, breads, and desserts, the menu gives diners plenty of opportunities to build a classic Southern plate. From fried chicken and meatloaf to collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and homemade desserts, Sarah’s is all about familiar flavors, generous portions, and a warm welcome.
There really is a Sarah behind Sarah’s Country Cooking, but she isn’t the one running the restaurant. The Kelley sisters operate the restaurant and named it in honor of their mother, Sarah. That family connection is a fitting tribute for a restaurant built around the kind of comforting Southern food traditionally passed from one generation to the next.
Treat your first visit like a true Southern meat-and-three experience. Pick the entrée that catches your eye, then build your plate with several of the day’s vegetables and sides. Since selections rotate, check the daily menu before you go and keep an eye out for your favorite dessert, too.
