Karen Waters Johnson is an Atlanta-area artist whose work centers around expressive abstract and figurative painting. After relocating to McDonough in 2016 and retiring from a corporate career in 2019, Karen returned fully to her lifelong passion for creating art, embracing painting as both a personal and emotional form of visual storytelling.

While she has explored a variety of artistic mediums throughout her creative journey, Karen feels her strongest artistic connection through oil painting. Her portfolio also includes watercolor, pencil work, and graphic design, all tied together by her ongoing exploration of color, texture, and emotional expression.

Karen’s artwork reflects a deep sense of gratitude and purpose, using layered compositions and expressive movement to communicate feeling and connection through visual form. She is an active member of the Visual Arts Collective of Henry County and the Henry Arts Alliance.
