GENERAL CRITERIA – ALL HENRY COUNTY ARTISAN TRAIL SITES
- Property or business must be located within the city limits of Hampton, Locust Grove or Stockbridge, or be in the unincorporated areas of Henry County. (If you are unsure whether your business is located within one of the cities or in unincorporated Henry County you can find out by visiting the Henry County Tax Assessors website: https://www.qpublic.net/ga/henry/search.html)
- The site must maintain all necessary local, state and federal licenses and adequate insurance for their business.
- The site must be open to the general public.
- The site must be well identified with business signage.
- The site must specify and maintain regular business hours. Seasonal hours are acceptable. Businesses that are open to the public “by appointment only” or for fewer than two days per week may be considered. However, businesses that are only open to subscribers or shareholders will not be considered.
- The site must be visitor friendly, which means that it is accessible, clean, safe and provides adequate restrooms, ample parking, directional signs, utilizes icon denoting handicap accessibility, etc.
- The site’s parking area must be easily accessible by 2-wheel drive vehicles (4-wheel drive only access areas will not be considered).
- The site must be willing to promote, connect and collaborate with other participants on the Artisan Trail.
- The site agrees to be featured on the Visit Henry County, GA Artisan Trail webpage: https://visithenrycountygeorgia.com/artisan-trail/

The application is subject to review to ensure that the business meets all the criteria listed above and below. Once an application is approved, the business will be notified via email and will be added to the Visit Henry County, GA Artisan Trail webpage.
ARTISAN CATEGORIES:
ART-RELATED RETAIL VENUES
Examples: Galleries; Retail Shops; Gift Shops; Public Studios
- The affiliate venue promotes original works and/or exhibitions featuring local artists.
- The affiliate venue, gift shop and/or gallery prioritizes “Georgia-made” with an emphasis on locally created art from Henry County. Shops with a strong product line of imports or crafts that are prefabricated made from kits may not qualify.
AGRI-ARTISANS
Examples: Agritourism locations, Wineries, Breweries, Distilleries, Cideries, Farmers Markets
- The site’s agricultural and food products prioritize “Georgia-made” and/or “Georgia-grown” goods.
- The site offers opportunities for “you-pick,” “you-make,” and/or tasting experiences on a farm, in a natural setting, and or/where the products are produced.
ARTISANAL FOOD & RELATED PRODUCTS
Examples: Coffee Shops, Bakeries, Specialties shops, Georgia-Grown merchandise
- Sells food or food products made by hand using traditional methods.
- “Georgia-made” and/or “Georgia-grown” produce and products.
- Consideration will be given to sites that sell products that while not grown in Georgia are processed, roasted and/or refined in Georgia where the end product is sold locally.
RESTAURANTS
Examples: Restaurants, Oyster Bars, Diners, Night Clubs, Cafés
- Locally-owned/managed and not a franchise*
- Serves “Georgia-made” and/or “Georgia-grown” beverages, condiments, produce, meats, and/or dairy products
- “Georgia-made” and/or “Georgia-grown” products must be notated on the menu to qualify. If all (or the majority of) meats, produce, dairy, etc that is used in the restaurant are sourced locally or within Georgia, a note to this effect on the menu would satisfy this requirement.
- Consideration will be given to locations that sell products and dishes that while not grown in Georgia are processed, roasted, and/or refined in Georgia.
LODGING
Examples: Bed & Breakfast; Campsite; Cabin; Inn; Glamping sites
- The lodging site must be locally-owned/managed and not a franchise.*
- Boutique property with less than 30 rooms.
- The lodging site must have a distinguishing or unique feature(s), while also offering some special amenity or service that sets it apart from traditional lodging properties.
- The business pays and is current on required hotel/motel tax payments to the city/county.
- In the event a lodging property does not qualify, yet the property has a restaurant serving Georgia-made beverages, condiments, produce, meats, and/or dairy products, it may qualify as a “restaurant” (see Restaurants section above for specific restaurant criteria).
* A business may have more than one location as long as they are all owned by a single owner/enity who is involved in the day-to-day operations of the business.
