Imagine Music Festival – A three-day music festival featuring world-renown artists along with smaller acts within the electronic dance music (EDM) genre. Event is scheduled for September 19 – September 22 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Bridgefest – Experience this free community festival that blends art, music, food and more to create a colorful gathering. Special highlights include the Muscle & Mystique Car Show, a health fair and Hispanifest: an aspect of the festival celebrating Hispanic heritage through live performances and more. Bridgefest is held on the lawn next to Stockbridge City Hall September 27-28.
Bear Creek Festival – Hosted by the City of Hampton, the Bear Creek Festival is set to take place Saturday, September 28 . Vendors will be in attendance selling food and arts and crafts. An annual car show, raffle and hayride are just some of the fun activities planned for this date.
Porchfest – Porches in the city of Hampton become stages for a day during Porchfest on October 12. Watch local musicians perform and enjoy works on display at pop-up art shops around the downtown area.
Day of the Dead Chili Cookoff – JailHouse Brewing Company is known for its fun, creative craft beer selection and location in the City of Hampton jail, but during the Day of the Dead Chili Cookoff, the brewery acts as host to the increasingly popular food event. This year’s cookoff is scheduled for November 2, with online tickets available starting October 1.
Outdoor Entertainment
Southern Belle Farm – Jake Carter and his family own and operate Southern Belle Farm, an agritourism farm that offers up delicious produce, homemade treats and lots of fun during each season of the year. Choose your own pumpkin or treat the kids to fun around a campfire or journey through a corn maze. The inaugaural Our World Balloon Festival will be hosted at Southern Belle Farm September 14. The event includes tethered hot air balloon rides, live music from Corey Smith, food trucks and more.
Foam Glow 5K – A run dedicated to spreading the awareness of childhood cancer, the Foam Glow 5K at Atlanta Motor Speedway takes place September 7. The run concludes with a foam party and live music provided by a DJ.
Opening Day at Yule Forest Highway 155 – A family-owned farm where fun and education merge to create a unique experience that can be enjoyed by children and adults. Pick pumpkins from the vine during fall or trim your own tree during Christmas time. Yule Forest opens on September 28 with a fun-filled day of horseback riding, food and entertainment.
Panola Mountain State Park – Georgia State Park with many offerings, including hiking, biking and walking trails. Visitors have the option of camping overnight, tree climbing, archery and other recreational activities.
Atlanta Air Show – The Atlanta Air Show comes to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the first time this year. The October 12 – 13 event will be a high-flying experience that is expected to attract aviation fans from various locations.
Kiwanis Henry County Fair – Enjoy live music, food and midway rides during this week-long county fair organized by the Henry County Kiwanis Club October 29 – November 3.
Family Fun After Dark
Moonlight Hikes at Panola Mountain – Take a guided trek to the top of Panola Mountain to see a gorgeous view of the sunset before descending the mountain and enjoying s’mores over a fire. The next scheduled Moonlight Mountain hike is September 13.
Fear the Woods – Yule Forest Highway 155 doubles as the site of Fear the Woods, an interactive Halloween attraction that features a haunted house, haunted transport and trail experience interactive battle with zombies.
Georgia State Fair – Highlights of the Georgia State Fair include a petting zoo, races, fair rides and much more. Atlanta Motor Speedway will host this annual event from September 27 – October 6. The fair is open late-night on weekends.
Those Who Serve
Army Aviation Heritage Foundation Helicopter Rides – Tour the hangar of the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation (AAHF) and meet the individuals involved with this largely veteran-run organization. September 20-21 are the next scheduled dates in which you can take a paid ride aboard a Vietnam era helicopter.
Veterans Day Service – November 11 at 11:00 a.m. is the date and time of the Veterans Day Service located at Heritage Park in McDonough, GA. Observed annually, military veterans are remembered for their sacrifices.
