The inaugural Speedway Spin benefiting Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta event will be held exclusively on the grounds of Atlanta’s NASCAR track, Atlanta Motor Speedway, on Saturday, June 15. Children’s is the largest pediatric provider in Georgia and one of the largest in the country, with more than one million patient visits each year. This fun-filled event will feature a 62-mile Metric Century, as well as the option to complete the ride in a smaller distance of 15.5 or 31 miles. The event will also have food and beverages inside the oval race track for cyclists and their families to enjoy throughout and after the event.
The Metric Century ride will feature loops riding around the 1.5 mile oval NASCAR track along with a route that circles the immediate outside of the race track on the grounds of Atlanta Motor Speedway. This ride will give cyclists the choice to participate as an individual rider. Each team member will ride 15.5 miles of the 62-mile Metric Century.
While fundraising to participate is not required, it is highly encouraged since all funds will benefit the patients and families cared for at Children’s. The first 96 fundraising teams or individuals to raise a total of $1,000 will each have their own garage bay for their bicycles that the NASCAR drivers use for their race cars. A NASCAR pace car will also take all of the Metric Century cyclists out on the first lap to begin the ride
